St Ursula’s College congratulates the Class of 2022 on their outstanding HSC results which see the school once again named one of the top 100 secondary schools in the state. 

Eight students earned top 10 places in their subjects; the highest number of Top Achievers of any systemic Catholic school in NSW. Clara Medanic took out first place in Croatian Continuers; Sofia Di Prinzio earned two top ten spots, coming third in Italian Continuers and fourth in Italian Extension; Ella Nicou, Eleftheria Houliaras and Georgia Morse ranked second, third and fourth, respectively, in Modern Greek Beginners; Kayla Ingle-Olson came third in Music 1; Gloria Gannon came fourth in Hospitality Examination; and Sophie Choueifati took out tenth place in Modern History. 

158 Distinguished Achievements were earned by 76 students, which means these girls were awarded a mark over 90 in 158 subjects. Two students, Isabella Carney and Sophie Choueifati, were named All Round Achievers, with Isabella scoring 90 or above in five subjects and Sophie scoring 90 or above in six subjects. Sophie is to be congratulated for achieving the top ATAR in her cohort: 99.1.

Prior to the release of ATARs, 129 students were offered early entry into universities and colleges across two states. These offers are a testament to the consistent academic efforts of the girls throughout their schooling and their clear vision for their future.

Six students were recognised for the outstanding quality of their HSC major works: Kayla Ingle-Olson received a nomination for Encore and was selected for the Sydney Catholic Schools HSC Music Showcase. Vivian Ngo received a nomination for Callback, the annual showcase of exemplary performances and compositions by students of HSC Dance. Olivia Simone received a nomination for OnSTAGE and was selected for the Sydney Catholic Schools HSC Drama Showcase. Emilia Paino’s Design and Technology work received a nomination for Shape. Mia Topen’s Body of Work was selected for ARTEXPRESS and Cathy Zhang’s work will be displayed in the Art Rules exhibition.

College Principal, Mrs Mary Leask, said the school community is so proud of the girls’ achievements.

“Our students are extremely hardworking and tenacious and their success has come in many different forms, not just in earning amazing HSC results, but in discovering their strengths, building relationships and learning of the impact they can have on the world,” she said.  

“2022 was the girls’ first full year in the classroom after two years of interruption, and they threw themselves into returning our College to being a dynamic, colourful place; leading fundraisers, festivals and community building activities, all the while continuously plugging away at their studies.”

“The Class of 2022 is known for their infectious energy and enthusiasm. We congratulate them on the completion of their HSC and we look forward to seeing how their passions and their commitment to Serviam continue to unfold as they journey into their post-school chapter,” Mrs Leask said.
