The 2023 Student Leadership Team has inspired the College community with the launch of their chosen theme, “Pursue the Possibilities”.
The theme was revealed by College Captain, Anastasia Bebonis, and College Vice Captain, Chrystalla Kospetas, to cheers from the whole student body in attendance at a special assembly. The celebratory mood was further enhanced by the performance of A Million Dreams by Girralong Co-Captains, Isabella Cicco and Konstantina Kallivretakis.
Anastasia said the Student Leadership Team workshopped the theme while attending formation camp last year and it aims to encourage members of the College community to actively seek positive change in 2023.
“We reflected on St Angela Merici’s vision for leadership,” Anastasia said.
“In particular, her motivation and drive for a Company of Women, inspired by St Ursula. Throughout St Angela’s Catholic mission, she was driven by her passion to become a change agent and a woman of great courage.”
The girls also took inspiration from Deuteronomy 31:8, “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Chrystalla explained that the 2023 Leadership team wanted girls to boldly pursue the many valuable opportunities available to them; from taking up new extracurricular activities to participating in the school’s outreach programs.
To accompany their theme, the Student Leadership Team selected a door and keys as their College symbol.
“The door is a representation of how new opportunities take us from one place to another,” Chrystalla said.
“We have designed a key for each year group, and each key features an Ursuline Value. Each of these values will allow us to unlock new possibilities and develop as Serviam women. We challenge you to pursue the possibilities ahead. In times when the key doesn’t seem to fit, remember, there is always another door; it’s up to us to find it.”
